An Absolute Beast of a Machine
I knew this thing was their most rigid design so far, which is why I got it, but boy did it exceed my expectations. The entire construction is very tough and rigid. The assembly was easy and only took a few minutes. I tried it with the ****** little 300W spindle that it comes with, and after seeing that it can rip through hard elder and oak at 2mm depth before it started choking, I swapped it out for a Makita clone 65mm router. With that in place, I'm now able to rip through 5mm cuts at 2000mm/min on hardwood without even a hint of chatter or vibration with a 1/4 2-flute EM. It eats aluminum for breakfast with a 1/4 mill, and the machining is only marginally slower than it would be for wood. However, with 1/8 EMs, one does need to go slower. I made an aluminum spoil board / fixture board with about 70 tapped holes in it because the base that comes with this machine just didn't have the hole spacing that I needed, and I didn't want to spoil it since it's really quite nice. At one point, the tap I was using broke in such a way that I couldn't take out the broken piece. So I put in a 1/8 EM that's actually intended to mill steel, and was able to mill the broken piece of CARBIDE tap right out of the hole without much trouble, though I did have to take it slow. So if you are planning on using this machine for metals, just make sure you're using the right EM, and you'll be surprised with what you can get out of this little tabletop beauty. I mainly use it for semi-pertified (basically soft stone) materials, amber, carbon fiber, and occasional wood milling, and it performs amazingly well every time. Can't recommend it high enough, and I hope they make an extension kit for it... or I'll have to get another one... or two... maybe three of these. All in all an amazing little machine for the money.
Great machine (very precise and fast)
As my second machine from sainsmart I am yet again impressed with the build quality and customer support. This machine is very rigid and accurate so you can get good results without having to wait a long time. If you're making things within the work area then this is the best machine on the market.
