Hi! My name is Jasna, and I am the owner of a small woodworking business called "WoodWonders”. Christmas time always inspires me to create new projects, and just a few days ago, I decided to start something special – a Christmas Nativity scene. My goal was to make it modern and minimalist, while also quick to produce, as I planned to gift it to my loved ones this Christmas.
After brainstorming with my husband Marko, who helps turn all my ideas into digital designs, we began the project. Starting with three simple triangles, we created the shape of a Christmas tree to symbolize a small house. We added a star-shaped cutout at the back – a symbol of the holy night.
The Holy Family (Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus) was designed as a simple contour in a single piece. Initially, the nativity scene didn’t include a base, but we later added one with the inscription "Merry Christmas" in our native language, which enhanced both the appearance and stability of the project. Everything was designed to reflect simplicity and elegance.
To create the project, we used our Genmitsu RENO 4040 CNC machine with a single 3.175 mm single-flute end mill bit. For materials, we used natural wood, and the finish was applied using our homemade mix of wax and olive oil, which provides a natural look and protection.
After sharing this project on social media, we received an overwhelming response. People loved the idea and the simplicity of the design. In just a few days, we produced and sold over 40 of these little nativity sets!
I’m excited to share this project with the Sainsmart community. I will include the vector file so anyone can customize it to their preferences. A tip for cutting: when working on the Holy Family, I recommend using the Pocket option for the inner section to avoid breaking any delicate parts.
I wish everyone a Merry Christmas!
